Multiple Description Image Coding Based on Directional Wavelet Transform and RKF Interpolation

摘要: 为解决目前多描述图像编码效率不高的问题,提出了一种新的多描述图像编码方法,该方法利用方向小波变换有效地去除了小波频域的冗余信息;同时提出一种新的图像插值方法,当解码端丢失一个描述时,利用所提出的方法可插值出丢失的描述.实验结果表明:所提出的算法在保持较高压缩率的前提下,具有很好的鲁棒性,在高误码率信道上与传统的多描述图像编码相比可以得到更好的重建图像质量.Abstract: In order to solve the problem of low coding efficiency in the traditional multiple description image coding,this paper proposes a new architecture for multiple description image coding.The proposed architecture is based on directional wavelet transform that removes redundancy among wavelet domain. Accordingly,a new interpolation method is used to reconstruct the image when one of the description is lost. The experiments show that the proposed algorithm performs better for the compression rate and robustness. Through comparisons with other traditional multiple descriptions the new architecture can obtain better quality of image in unreliable network channels.
