Abstract: This paper focuses on the planning method for redevelopment of city in China. First some features in planning method of the project of Funanhe Relyer remodeling in Chengdu China are presented. Then, a comparative analysis is carried out considering the case of the Shirahige west district in Tokyo Japan. It can be found from this analysis that the method for incorporating the historical and cultural factors into the concept of redevelopment of city is regarded as an important subject in the case of Funanhe River Project. On the other hand,supplying more enough open-space for urban disaster prevention is more important in the case of Shirhige west district project in Tokyo.
