Abstract: A large number of power, petroleum and chemical plants all over China have been used beyond designed period. But upon economical and technical consideration,however, it is necessary to keep these plants in operation providing that suitable maintenance and life assessment are made. The techniques of maintenance and life assessment have been successfully applied in industrial plants in advanced countries. This paper gives general introduction to life assessment technology for the maintenance management of industrial plants.
