Abstract: The linear mixed model is a subclass of linear models which contain noth fixed effects and random effects. The model has extensive applications in biology, medical science, economy, finance, environment protection and design of industry and so on. In the recent years, there is great progress in the research on the theory of the model and its applications. This paper will provide a survey of some important new results in parameter estimation, test hypothesis and model analysis.
