Abstract:
In this paper, the sericite/TiO
2 composite particle material with core-shell structure was prepared by mechano-chemical method.In this way, the dispersion of TiO
2 particles can be enhanced, the pigment property can be improved and the dosage can be reduced.What is more, the synergistic effect of sericite can also be developed.SEM, EDS and XPS were used in order to characterize the morphology of the composite particle material.Differential pigmentary property measurements were also carried out.Analysis results show that the whiteness of sericite/TiO
2 composite powder is 84.3%, hiding power is 18.68 g/m
2, and adsorption oil value is 26.79 g/100 g, respectively.In the sericite/TiO
2 composite particles, the surface of sericite is coated by uniform and stable TiO
2 layer.It is demonstrated that the properties of sericite/TiO
2 composite powders are similar to that of TiO
2.Hence, sericite/TiO
2 composite particle material can replace TiO
2 as white pigment in many areas.
