Abstract:
In order to improve the performance of cold and mix asphalt mixture, a new modified emulsified mixture with waterborne epoxy resin was developed. The waterborne epoxy modified emulsified asphalt binder was prepared by the method of pre emulsification and modification. A compaction test was conducted and Marshall method was used to design the optimum water content and modified emulsified asphalt content. The different compaction and curing styles were compared. High-temperature rutting test, low-temperature bending test, immersion Marshall test and fatigue test were conducted to estimate its high-and-low temperature performance, water sensitivity and fatigue performance. The test results show that the best compaction and curing style is compacting sample 50 times at the first time, putting sample at 110℃ oven for 24 hours, compacting sample 25 times for the second time, and putting sample in air for 24 hours; compared with the performances of hot mix asphalt, the high-temperature performance of modified emulsified mixture with waterborne epoxy resin is significantly increased, but the low-temperature and fatigue performance are lower, and the water sensitivity is almost the same.
