Abstract:
To enhance the removal of dissolved organic mattre in micro-polluteol water, a combined process of powdered activated carbon (PAC) loaded with silver and ultrafiltration (UF) was used to treat a micro-polluted raw water. Removal effects of DOC, UV
254 and influence of membrane fouling control were investigated. Results indicate that, compared with the conventional PAC, the DOC and UV
254 removal are significantly improved by PAC loaded with silver. The DOC and UV
254 removal are enhanced with the increase of PAC silver content at 0.10%, 0.50%, 1.00% respectively and PAC dosage at 50, 60, 80 and 100mg/L, but the removal of UV
254 and DOC of unit mass PAC loaded with silver are reduced. It can meet the demand of effluent quality at the dosage of 80mg/L and the content of 0.50%. PAC loaded with silver can further remove the humic substances in the ultraviolet region; The adsorption equilibrium of PAC loaded with silvers achieved in 20minutes and the adsorption of organic matter is better under acidic conditions. By PAC loaded with silver, membrane fouling can be better controlled ,membrane flux recovery can be better received after finishing backwashing, and membrane pollution index increases slowly.
