Abstract: In view of the question what is urban literature,this paper is designed to analyze and explore the changes of urban literature's modernity,by combining novels with theories, its essential characteristics and the reasons.Since the new period,it has experienced the logical extension from a simple modern point to a more specific interpretation and to Chinese peculiarity with deepening and transforming.But now,because the commercialization and the consumerization spread to the writers and urban literatures thoroughly,it is difficult to construct Chinese peculiarity and it is necessary to breakthrough.
