Abstract:
This paper analyzed the suicide of the rural elderly people from the perspective of the intergenerational transfer and transmission of differentiation, competition and social pressure. Through the actual investigation, this paper analyzed the inequality of the social occupation and the imbalance of resource allocation caused by the differentiation of farmers in rural areas, and no matter what class the farmers are in, they will not provide enough for themselves and live comfortably; While the characteristics of the rural social competition are highly competitive and stepped, and there is no mechanism existing. Young people flee the village quickly to work in the city. Because the competition of villages is often tied to the life of farmers, the pressure of the middle-and-lower class family competition can easily be transferred and concentrated on the middle-aged people. The burden and pressure of middle-aged people are transferred to the elderly people through intergenerational responsibility. Once the elderly people cannot create value, cannot take care of themselves and become ill, they become the pure burden and cumbersome of their descendants, and they are apt to commit suicide for the pressure and the consideration of their descendants. This paper advocated that the elderly people should be independent, the family pension should be changed into the social pension, and the lives and the cares of the rural elderly people should be secured under the new agricultural insurance policy.
