Abstract: The passage is mainly to give a rough description to new-Historical novel, summarizing its definitions, expounding the concept of "history", and the rising and main contents of the western New Historicism, the differences between the Neo-Historical novel, the traditional historical novel and the revolutionary historical novel, as well as the literary relations between the Retrospective novel, the Avant-Garde novel and Neo-Historical novel. Finally, we can see that the Neo-Historical novel can be defined as a kind of novel which, in the light of historical narration,depicts modern life, the life of the folks in particular, and conveys "a history in one's mind".
