Abstract: The paper comparatively studies the adulteries committed by "No Name Woman" in Kingston's The Woman Warrior and Hester Prynne in Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter happened at different times and different places and the punishment given by the patriarchal societies with a method of comparative literature and with a view of feminist. It is to stress that women have been the "other" of men and the patriarchal oppression for women has been historically and universally.
