Abstract: The article reviews the academic research priorities and themes on the contemporary household registration system in China,and indicates that the household registration system established at the beginning of the founding of PRC has become a research hotspot in various disciplines,as more and more peasants go into the cities to look for jobs.The research of the academic community in the country about the system in contemporary China mainly revolved around four aspects:the comparative study of the system,the study of the changing dynamic mechanism,the system function,and the reform goals and the path of the system.The academic research has made a lot of achievements on the contemporary system,but the farther systematic and case studies of the local areas should be strengthened.
