Abstract:
Long Day's Journey into Night is an autobiographical family tragedy written by Eugene O'Neill. In this play, the love and hate between the family members are entangled and interwoven.Based on Carl Jung's archetypal theory, this paper focuses,on two types of emotion-love and hate, and use them as the main line to analyze the specific expressions of the feelings between husband and wife, parents and children, thus trying to explore the cause of the tragedy.According to Carl Jung's archetypal theory, the existence of anima and animus archetypes influences the couple's relationship, and the existence of personal unconsciousness influences their relationship with their sons.
