Abstract: This thesis comprehensively explicates the chivalrous novel in the Tang dynasty. It not only analyses the reasons of the prosperity and the development of the chivalrous novel in the Tang dynasty, but also demonstrates the different characteristics between the chivalrous swordsmen and the immortal swordsmen and their influence on the later ages. These expositions have the distinct pioneering meaning in the study of the Chinese novel history.
