Abstract: The cultural image-mountain,with the richest connotations,is highlighted as the most typical in the Classical Chinese poetry.It has become a symbol of eternity of countries or love,a symbol of separation between boundaries or lovers,as well as a carrier of hermits' feelings.It's quite difficult to accurately translate mountain-image due to the lack of some of its connotations in English.Enlightened by Bassett's Cultural Translation Theory,translators take culture as the target and unit of the translation.By means of some definite translation techniques,translators can successfully convey the rich connotations of Chinese mountain-image to the largest extent,thus displaying its unique aesthetic charm to target readers.
