Abstract: The paper studies No-No Boy from the perspective of new historicism.The Japanese American writer John Okada utilizes the literary text form as“discursive practice”to portray the history of Nikkei community,to struggle off the bonds of mainstream culture and to break the silence for the power of speech with the intention of reconstructing the multi-cultural identity.
