Abstract:
By indigenizing SWCCSA which is widely used for measuring cultural competence in social work, the connotation of cultural competence was defined in Chinese context, and a Chinese version of four-dimensional SWCCSA was constructed, consisting of cultural awareness, knowledge acquisition, skills development and practical ability. Then, the survey and data analysis were carried out on 1 000 social work students and social workers. According to the survey data, social work cultural competence of China is at a lower-middle level, which is significantly affected by factors such as gender, identity, cultural background, practical experience and acceptance of cultural training. Therefore, social work educators should consciously respond to the challenge from cultural diversity, by building a cultural competence teaching system integrating theory, practice and practice, setting up special courses in the links of theory, practice and practical teaching and providing systematic trainings for students on cultural competence.
