Abstract: In this research, excellent cases of the practical social work in China for recent ten years have been summarized, development characteristics in five aspects extracted, and major problems in the development found. Those issues are:the big imbalance in service areas, unbalanced and inadequate benefits people enjoy; significant gradient differences in different service areas, and low-quality services in poverty-stricken areas in the central and western regions; poor experience in local practice; urgent improvement in traditional work methods, non-standardized industry development and lack of professional supervision and project evaluation. The solutions in four aspects were proposed:focus on connotative development to avoid involution of social service; develop "internet+ social work" to break the space-time dilemma between supply and demand; locate the correct position in the national development to innovate and develop local practical experience; improve the professional assessment system to advance the industry standardization.
