Abstract: Xi Jinping's thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era proposes fourteen basic strategies, and one of the most conspicuous thought is the development thought of insisting on the people as the center. The production and formation of the thought has both international and domestic backgrounds. It's main theoretical sources include the Marxism theory of human being's liberation and free overall development and the subject status of the people and the Marxist ruling party. What's more, it has great profound connotations that development should be for the people and depend on the people and its benefits should be shared among the people. In order to promote the people-centered development, we need to complete the three tasks and reduce the two disparities and reach new heights in five dimensions that to make solid progress toward prosperity for everyone and build a moderately prosperous society to make people enjoy happier lives.
