Abstract
In recent years, metal-organic frameworks (MOF) have fascinated remarkable research results in photocatalytic CO2 reduction. The synergistic effect provided by the adjustment of the compositions and structures of MOF has made them ideal candidates for designing versatile photocatalysts with superior performance. In this review, the recent progress in the photocatalytic CO2 reduction to C1 products of MOF-based photocatalysts were summarized. Moreover, different synthesis strategies of MOF-based photocatalysts were mainly discussed, such as defect engineering, morphology control, ligand and substituent functionalization, doping and introducing co-catalysts, metal cluster/nanoparticle modification, heterojunction designing and bandgap engineering as well as encapsulated quantum dots. Finally, the critical challenges and outlook of the MOF-based photocatalysts were proposed.
